As 2019 begins our Assembly Bill A-4520 to correct the shore tax continues to move forward! Over the holiday break our Senate version of the bill picked up an additional Co-Sponsor! We would encourage you all to contact Senator Michael Doherty (R) from District 23 and THANK HIM for co-sponsoring S-3133! This brings our total to 21, bipartisan sponsors, 17 in the Assembly and 4 in the Senate!
While our bill has a great number of legislators willing to sponsor it, we still need you to take action!
First, please visit our home page for the latest call to action. This page is updated weekly and gives you instructions on who to contact. Specifically right now we need EVERYONE to email the members of the leadership and ask that they support and place our bills on the agenda for the January 17th Committee Meetings. That includes, Speaker Coughlin, Majority Leader Greenwald, and Senate President Sweeney.
Second, we need your financial support! If you haven’t already, please go to our GoFundMe campaign and make a contribution so we can keep up the fight in Trenton! Stay tuned, we expect some important updates late next week!
please put A-4520 on the TGA Committee agenda for January 17
this will put a huge burden on the local business on the jersey shore .. rentals are already down this year
people who vacation here will be going to other states to vacation ..
My wife and I have been managing our sons shore rental home through Airbnb since 2016. This new concept became an option to us and insentivized our family to undertake a total rehab of the property. The endeavor enhanced the community, as well as provided an allternative solution for short term renters that want that homey experience. This additional short term rental option is broadening our tourism growth in the shore area. In the face of saving the Jersey Shore Tourism Image we appeal to our community leaders to recognize the value we will definitely loose if this occupancy tax continues to exist. The only thing that is definite is if this unfair occupancy tax persist, less people will visit the Jersey shore. We must not forget that making our home at the Jersey shore is a privilege!
